GWB Wines was created to overcome the adversity facing our grape growing business. The business aims to showcase the best 2% of the fruit Rae Clark grows under sustainable and organic practices and then couple it with the 40 years of Coonawarra wine making, by one of the greatest, Peter Douglas. Our goal is simply to prove what we grow is high quality so we can have a sustainable grape growing business and to find a small group of ‘True Fans’’ to enjoy our small wine offering.

Cabernet Sauvignon: A Bold Red Experience
Our Cabernet Sauvignon collection features vintages that exemplify the best of Coonawarra terroir:
- High Wheeler 2020: Deep brick red to purple-black hue, this wine boasts blackcurrant and spicy plum notes. The palate offers mint and blackcurrant flavours, beautifully balanced with structured tannins from premium oak barrels. Enjoy a lingering, cedar-like finish.
- High Wheeler 2019: Similar to its 2020 counterpart, this vintage maintains the signature Coonawarra Cabernet profile with its deep colour and complex flavour profile.
- Over the Line 2019: A full-bodied wine with a deep brick to dark aubergine purple hue. Experience rich flavours of blackcurrant, black olives, orange chocolate, and cedar herbs, courtesy of extended time in premium French oak. Firm tannins contribute to a smooth, full-bodied finish.
Chardonnay: cool climate elegance
Our Chardonnay offerings showcase the finesse of cool climate white wines:
- High Wheeler 2023: A complex and fresh Chardonnay with a light straw colour. Aromas of melons and pineapple are complemented by nutty French oak notes. Seven months on lees and partial malolactic fermentation result in a rich, creamy texture. Enjoy now or cellar for increased complexity.
- Over the Line 2022: Bright straw colour with a green edge. Nectarine and nashi pear fruits mingle with roasted hazelnut overtones from oak fermentation. Tightly structured and rich, with a clean, lingering finish balanced by good acidity.
At GWB Wines, we pride ourselves on our meticulous winemaking process. Our red wines undergo careful crushing and fermentation on skins, followed by gentle pressing and maturation in premium oak barrels. For our whites, we employ techniques such as lees aging and partial malolactic fermentation to enhance complexity and texture.
